Twilight star Taylor Lautner played host on Saturday Night Live last night (much like his BFF/girlfriend Taylor Swift did a few weeks ago) and altho the kid performed with great zeal and gusto, the overall tone of the show was … well … not terribly funny. Yes there was a skit or two that got me to chortle but, truth be told, I wasn’t really rolling in the aisles with laughter. Here are a few of Taylor’s SNL promo pics as were featured on the show last night:

Lautner did give a pretty hilarious monologue … in it, he addressed the Taylor Swift vs. Kanye West incident that took place at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. I had forgotten that Lautner was one of the presenters on stage while Swift was being interrupted by Kanye … his monologue explained what he should’ve done when Kanye stole Swift’s winning moment at the awards show. Okay … the Spark of Love skit wasn’t really funny at all … but it was a nice play on the fact that Taylor Lautner and Taylor Swift like to go to the frozen yogurt shop a lot on their dates HERE’s a link to the New Doorbells skit that only featured Lautner very briefly but was much funnier, IMHO, than the Spark of Love skit.

All in all … Taylor did a pretty decent job. I was really hopin’ for a Jersey Shore skit but, alas, it wasn’t meant to be. There was a Team Edward vs. Team Jacob Twilight skit but it doesn’t appear to be online anywhere. UPDATE: Pink reader Ashley found the Twilight skit:

That skit was pretty cute in a dorky way. What did y’all think of the show last night … were you impressed? Who do you think did a better job hosting SNL … Swift or Lautner?
